New Site & MoCCa Art Festival

Hi Everyone,

I know a lot of you have written since there hasn’t been a new comic in, like, forever.  I have good reasons- I’ve been hard at work on making two mini-comic collections of Strings Attached, which I will be debuting this weekend at the MoCCa Art Festival.

For those in the area (or not.  Thanks, Mom), here’s the deal:  it’s a convention of sorts (kind of like a smaller-scale comic-con) for both established and independent cartoonists looking to showcase their work.  It runs this Saturday and Sunday (June 23-24) from 11-6pm at the Puck Building in SoHo (293 Lafayette at Houston), and admission is $8 ($10 for the whole weekend).  I would love any visitors and support, if people are around and want to check it out, especially since this is my first time exhibiting, and I’m quite nervous.

More info is on the MoCCA homepage:

There will also be a new website design, launching soon after MoCCA is over (and possibly before).

Hopefully, I will see some of you there.

The Characters

ConradConrad (lead guitar): Like rock music, he is easily
influenced by others and lives in the past. Earnest, if naive, he genuinely believes that years of playing in his high school marching band have prepared him for a career as a rock star. But while his ambitions are high, his desire to grow up, get a job, and leave his mom’s basement is low.

Amy
Amy (lead vocals): A “club kid with a cause,” she sees her music as a way to change the world every time she gets up on the soapbox… err, stage.

JakeJake (drums, songwriter): First-generation Bengali and musical purist of the group. Brooding and intense, he believes that an artist must suffer for his art. As a result, he is pretty miserable, but one heck of a musician.

GabeGabe (saxophone and others): Mellow, soft-spoken ladies’ man. A jazz afficionado with a laissez-faire approach to life, Gabe allows both music and life to happen to him, as if by chance.

ErinErin: Conrad’s sensible, workaholic sister, who meets him once a
week for dinner. Erin’s goal is to convince Conrad that he needs a more stable job. Much to Conrad’s dismay, Erin thinks Billy Joel is a “rock god.”
